Vitamix blenders are workhorses that will return you ten-fold what you invest into them. I have owned mine since 1998 and it is still working just fine. I use it at least once, if not more, every single day.
What other single machine will give you hot soups, sauces or gravies, and then turn around and give you frozen home-made ice cream, with no other attachments? A Vitamix blender gives you veggies with all of the enzymes and nutrients intact, in an easily digestible form.
For the raw foodist, this machine is a blessing and the best there is on the market. Although you can use a regular blender, they can easily break with what the Vitamix would just take in stride, such as ice cubes.
You can even grind your own seeds, nuts and grains if you’d like, and make your own almond butter or peanut butter for instance. I highly recommend the variable speed model in case you need to use a low speed, such as for adding raw eggs to a smoothie or making mayonnaise, for instance.
Using a Vitamix
There are some precautions you need to take when using a Vitamix. The first is, always put your hand on the top of the machine when running it, since the blades are strong and put quite a torque on the container.
Secondly, always listen to the motor, and if it sounds like it is straining, turn it down, shut it off or add more liquid to it. Thirdly, NEVER put a spoon or other implement in it, and don’t put the tamper in it without the lid on. If anything hits the blades while going at that speed, the blades will break.
Thankfully, Vitamix has engineered the machine so that only a small piece breaks off and that can be replaced fairly inexpensively and you don’t have to purchase a whole new machine. Probably every Vitamix blender owner, including myself, has done this at some time or other, so be very careful.
Lastly, I always start the machine on low and turn the speed up as needed. That way, if anything is wrong, you can easily and quickly turn it off.
How the Vitamix Works
The Vitamix blender can make hot soups or frozen ice cream in the same container (though not at the same time). It does this by utilizing hot ingredients or water and the friction of the motor running heats it up in just minutes.
Frozen treats are made by using ice cubes and/or frozen ingredients and therefore they end up being cold or soft-serve consistency. All frozen treats have 1 part liquid to 4 parts frozen and require four ingredients: 1) Liquid 2) Flavoring 3) Sweeteners and 4) Frozen ingredients.
For optimal health, a Vitamix just can’t be beat. You will never regret owning one once you have purchased it! Click below and receive free shipping as well.
