Best Whey Protein
for Shakes

All whey protein is not created anywhere near equal. The best whey protein product that I use in my morning smoothie breakfast drink is from Dr. Mercola’s site. Any other protein product that you use is going to have inferior ingredients: sugar or HFCS (high fructose corn syrup), pasteurized milk, artificial sweeteners, soy and/or chemical preservatives.

Best whey protein Pro-Optimal Whey

"Pro-Optimal Whey™ is a 100% natural powdered nutrition formula designed to promote peak wellness by optimizing proper protein, fats, carbs and micronutrients. It has no toxic artificial sweeteners or flavors. That means no chemical hazards and no chemical aftertaste. Chocolate and strawberry flavors do contain natural xylitol sweetener, which does not impact blood sugar levels.

The milking cows used to produce Pro-Optimal Whey™ Protein Mix are NEVER subjected to any chemicals, hormones, antibiotics, genetically modified organisms, hyper-immunizations or injected pathogens. The herds graze exclusively on pesticide-free, chemical-free natural grass pastures. Pro-Optimal Whey™ never uses cross-flow filtration, microfiltration, hydrolyzation, ion exchange, or any process that could denature the original proteins as found in pure, raw milk. Pro-Optimal Whey™ uses Proserum® Whey Protein. Proserum® is a customized non-denatured, whey protein powder. It undergoes a unique pasteurization process to keep the full range of all the fragile immune balancing and restoring components of fresh raw milk.

Plus, these cows are not from factory farms that feed their cows grains. Grain-feeding can transform healthy milk proteins into allergens and carcinogens -- which is caused by modern feeding methods that substitute high-protein, soy-based feeds for fresh green grass."

It is absolutely the best whey protein around. The following information tells you about the benefits of whey protein.

Pro-Optimal Whey™ is so nutritious it can be used as an alternative to a quick meal."

Whey Healthier Protein Mix!

Miracle Whey

Dr. Mercola’s new Miracle Whey™ has all of the above plus some enhancements to make it even better. There are six flavors to choose from now instead of just three and it is sweetened with Luo Han Guo, a very sweet fruit from China that is powdered and 300 times sweeter than sugar.

You may go to his site via the banner above to get more information about it and to order it so that I don’t overwhelm you with statistics here. I order the three-pack of vanilla, chocolate and strawberry.

These truly are the best whey protein types to use in your daily food intake. Here is a comparison of some other brands out there.

Other Whey Protein Brands

For comparison, I went to my local Kroger store and looked at the ingredient list of some of the whey protein for shakes offered. I won’t give the brand names but here are some of the lists.

This first brand is actually one of the better offerings out there, but you'll quickly see why it isn't the one of the best whey protein types offered. Ingredients: cold-processed, cross-flow, microfiltered whey protein isolate, natural flavor, xanthan gum, lecithin, and stevia. The chocolate brand had the same but with the addition of cocoa powder (natural process).

It’s great that they are using stevia instead of artificial sweeteners but you have to watch out for the term “natural flavorings”. Companies do not have to list exactly what is in this due to proprietary laws. They say that if they did, competitors would copy them. However, this is often times a cover-up for MSG (monosodium glutamate), known by many different names.

The next one had: whey protein concentrate, isomalto-oligosaccharides, cocoa, natural chocolate or vanilla flavoring, sunflower oil, buttermilk, l-leucine, lecithin, dried cream extract, cellulose gum, salt, xanthan gum and sodium alginate.

The last one was the worst: Protein blend (whey and soy), maltodextrin, fructose, sugar, cocoa processed with alkali, rice flour, natural flavor, soy lecithin, medium chain triglycerides, potassium chloride, tricalcium phosphate, salt, ascorbic acid, ferrous fumasate, dicalcium phosphate, vitamin E acetate, niacinamide, zinc oxide, copper gluconate, D-calcium pantothenate, pyroxidine hydrochloride, Vitamin A palmitate, D-biotin, potassium iodide, and cyanocobalamin.

I did not check any ingredients for any soy protein products. Just know to always bypass anything containing soy, especially as a main ingredient. Soy lecithin as a later ingredient might be passable. Sugar and fructose are two items you definitely want to avoid if you’re looking for the best whey protein for your health.

I don’t know about you, but if something contains so many words that I can’t even pronounce, much less know what they mean, I would rather not ingest it. Remember K.I.S.S. (Keep It Safe and Simple.)
