Tuna Salad Recipe

Most tuna salad recipes have unhealthy omega-6 fats or genetically modified canola or soybean oil in them. These are the ingredients in a typical restaurant mayonnaise: soybean oil, water, egg yolk, corn syrup, distilled vinegar, salt, spice, calcium disodium EDTA added to protect flavor.

This healthy recipe utilized dolphin safe tuna and grapeseed oil mayonnaise that is egg free, dairy free and preservative free. The brand is Vegenaise and can be found at Natural Foods Warehouse and Whole Foods.

Be sure to get the one with grapeseed oil (which will give you wonderful anti-oxidants from the resveratrol in it), not any other kind of oil. There are several types and this one has a purple cap and label.

The Vital Choice tuna is U.S. troll caught with zero bycatch and is made in the U.S.A. by a family owned business. They have even made sure their cans are BPA free. Go to the Safe Fish page to find out how to get the best fish around. Enjoy the fruits of their labor!

Tuna Fish Salad

1 can of Vital Choice tuna fish (3.5 ounce can)

1 tablespoon of Vegenaise brand grapeseed oil mayonnaise

Half a stalk of celery, cut into bite size pieces

1 tablespoon of onion (optional)

*****************************************************************

1. Put tuna fish into a small bowl.

2. Add other ingredients to taste.

3. Serve over a bed of romaine lettuce (and eat the lettuce too!)

You can also put the tuna fish plain into a larger mixed salad for extra protein. Vital Choice has excellent, third party certified pure, dolphin safe tuna that can be ordered.
